MOST IMPORTANT RULES TO REMEMBER

8 BALL - BALL IN HAND

PLAYERS MUST CALL ACCURATELY INTENDED POCKETS FOR EACH BALL SUNK.

  1. Scratch on the Break is NOT an Automatic Loss. If a player pockets the cue ball when breaking, it is considered a foul. The rack continues with opposing player taking BALL IN HAND
  2. Scratch on the 8 Ball is NOT an Automatic Loss, as long as the 8 Ball remains on the table*.  If a player pockets the cue ball when shooting on the 8 Ball, it is considered a foul and the rack continues with opposing player taking BALL IN HAND. If a player pockets the 8 Ball and Cue Ball simultaneously, then the rack is considered an automatically loss.
  3. Pocketing the 8 Ball on the Break Automatically Wins the Rack.  If a player pockets the 8 Ball on the break, without committing any fouls, player automatically win the rack or game.
  4. Players must accurately call each shoot.                                         Players must define each shot, including number of rails, splits, playing off balls and combinations.
  5.  Players can not play off the 8-ball or opponents balls.

 

AUTOMATIC LOSS

The shooter loses if he
(a) pockets the eight ball and fouls.;
(b) pockets the eight ball before his group is cleared;
(c) pockets the eight ball in an uncalled pocket; or
(d) drives the eight ball off the table.
These do not apply to the break shot.

9 BALL - BALL IN HAND

PLAYERS MUST CALL THE INTENDED POCKET BEFORE SINKING THE 9-BALL

  1. Scratch on the Break is NOT an Automatic Loss. If a player pockets the cue ball when breaking, it is considered a foul. The rack continues with opposing player taking BALL IN HAND
  2. Scratch on the 9 Ball is NOT an Automatic Loss, as long as the 9 Ball remains on the table*.  If a player pockets the cue ball when shooting on the 9 Ball, it is considered a foul and the rack continues with opposing player taking BALL IN HAND. If a player pockets the 9 Ball and Cue Ball simultaneously, then the rack is considered an automatically loss.
  3. Pocketing the 9 Ball on the Break Automatically Wins the Rack.  If a player pockets the 9 Ball on the break, without committing any fouls, player automatically win the rack or game.

 

AUTOMATIC WIN

The shooter Wins if he
(a) pockets the nine ball at any point during the rack or game.
